In the height of summer, the breeze sweeping across Weishan Lake carries the fragrance of lotus blossoms and a refreshing coolness. On June 28, the labor union of Shandong Shenli Rigging Co., Ltd. organized a team-building excursion for outstanding employees and key staff members. Stepping away from their busy workstations, they headed to Weishan Island—a national 5A-rated "Red tourism" site—to embark on a journey of relaxation and bonding. On this day, there was no cold steel, only gentle ripples; no departmental barriers, only laughter shared side by side.

At the morning meeting point, everyone arrived earlier than scheduled. Faces usually occupied with blueprints, machinery, and production schedules now wore expressions of ease. On the bus, any initial awkwardness quietly melted away as seatmates struck up conversations. "It’s been a long time since I’ve gone out with so many colleagues; today feels just like a spring field trip," a veteran employee remarked with a smile. A boat ride across the Grand Canal served as the trip's first "gift." As the vessel moved forward, azure waves rippled outward, and endless stretches of lotus leaves unfurled along both sides of the hull. Standing on the deck, the breeze brushed against their faces, dispelling the irritability accumulated during days of sweltering heat. Colleagues from different workshops naturally gathered together, sharing anecdotes from their jobs as well as stories about their children and favorite weekend haunts. Amidst the seamless blend of water and sky, they discovered a vibrant, personable side to one another beyond the workplace.

Upon landing on Weishan Island, the group visited the Weizi Cultural Garden and ascended the Wanghu Pavilion. Gazing into the distance, they took in the vast expanse of the lake; the blue-stone steps seemed to silently recount the history—both the vicissitudes and the renewal—of this ancient canal town. Colleagues strolled together, some intently reading stone inscriptions while others snapped photos of their companions. The usual high-pressure production rhythm was put on pause, replaced by a sense of historical depth and reverence for nature, allowing body and mind to unwind effortlessly. Lunch was hosted at a local fisherman’s courtyard on the island, where a round table was laden with delicious lake fish and tender, fresh aquatic vegetables. The labor union had thoughtfully gathered information beforehand regarding each colleague's dietary restrictions and preferences—preparing separate dishes for those who avoid spicy food and substituting meat dishes for those who do not eat seafood. These small gestures ensured everyone could dine with peace of mind and genuine comfort. Over the meal, the clinking of glasses accompanied not just drinks, but the sincere sharing of feelings; conversations went beyond work to touch upon the joys and challenges of life. By the end of the meal, team members who had previously been unfamiliar with one another were already making plans to play basketball together after get off work.

In the afternoon, the team visited the Daguan Village Folk Culture Exhibition Hall. Traditional fishing and hunting tools, vintage wooden boats, and yellowed photographs of fishing-village life stirred up childhood memories for many local colleagues. Gathering around the guide, they listened to the story of Weishan Lake’s transformation—from a place where people relied on fishing for a living to a hub of ecological conservation and thriving tourism. Many remarked, "Protecting these waters means protecting our own home." This realization gave the team a more personal understanding of "sustainable development." The itinerary concluded with a leisurely stroll along the sightseeing paths winding through vast lotus fields. With emerald leaves stretching to the horizon and lotus flowers in partial bloom, the pristine atmosphere of the wetland enveloped everyone. There was no rushing and no agenda; each person enjoyed this rare moment of leisure at their own pace. When the group gathered for the return trip, satisfied smiles lit up everyone's faces—a perfect way for the labor union to help these hardworking employees "recharge."

On the way back, some leaned against the windows reminiscing over photos, others exchanged WeChat contacts, and some remarked, "I only realized today that Xiao Wang from our department is so funny; our next project collaboration is sure to go much more smoothly." This simple comment captured the true essence of the event: team building is not merely a formality, but an opportunity to transform a collection of individuals into a united "us."
Looking ahead, the Shenli Rigging labor union will continue to focus on employees' needs and enrich the ways it cares for them. From improving the work environment to creating new platforms, and from routine welfare visits to organizing outdoor activities, the union is committed to building a "home for employees" that is both warm and vibrant through concrete actions. The company believes that when every hardworking employee is treated with genuine care, the steps taken toward the future will be all the more firm and powerful. This midsummer, we shared a journey amidst nature's beauty; on the long road ahead, we will continue to move forward together, united in heart and purpose.
